RALEIGH, N.C. — Here's what's going on at the General Assembly on Wednesday, July 24:
  • House Finance considers legislation that would create a loan fund to assist financially strapped rural hospitals. (9 a.m., 544 LOB)
  • House Judiciary debates the annual Farm Act, which includes a controversial provision on smokable hemp, and a measure implementing Marzy's Law, the crime victims' rights amendment. (10 a.m., 544 LOB)
  • Senate Finance takes up a proposal to increase fees on hunting and fishing licenses. (10 a.m., 1027/1128 LB)
  • The Senate has six bills on its 11:30 a.m. floor calendar, including a final vote rolling back regulations on new health care facilities and proposals to change elementary school reading programs, toughen penalties for gang activity and increase the punishment for assaulting a law enforcement officer with a gun.
  • The House convenes at 1 p.m. and has eight bills on its agenda, including a ride-share safety proposal and a stopgap funding measure.
