RALEIGH, N.C. — Here's what's happening in the General Assembly on Tuesday, May 22:
  • The Senate has canceled all activities so that members can attend the funeral of a son of Sen. Chuck Edwards, R-Henderson. His son died unexpectedly over the weekend.
  • The House has no formal committee meetings or floor votes, but leaders said they are working behind the scenes with Senate staffers still in Raleigh on the state budget.
  • Rep. Marcia Morey, D-Durham, holds a news conference to roll out her bill that would provide a so-called "red flag" law in North Carolina, allowing authorities to temporarily take guns from anyone a judge deems to be a threat to themselves of others.
