Raleigh, N.C. — Here's what's happening at the General Assembly on Thursday, May 31:
- The Senate gives final approval to the state budget during its 9 a.m. session, and the House is expected to take up the spending proposal in its 10 a.m. session. Republicans are using a parliamentary maneuver to force simple up-or-down votes on the budget while barring any amendments, but that hasn't stopped Democrats from debating it.
- A new measure to combat the opioid epidemic gets its first hearing in the House Health Committee.
