RALEIGH, N.C. — Here's what's going on at the General Assembly on Wednesday, Aug. 7:
  • House State and Local Government considers legislation that would allow cities and counties to provide high-speed internet service. (10 a.m., 1228/1327 LB)
  • House Agriculture debates resurrecting the state Milk Commission. (1 p.m., 643 LOB)
  • The Senate convenes at 11 a.m., and the 12 bills on its calendar include school safety upgrades and the creation of a state Gaming Commission.
  • The House has eight bills on its 4 p.m. floor calendar, including a fix to prevent layoffs at the North Carolina Virtual Public School, a loan program for struggling rural hospitals and changes to billboard regulations.
