RALEIGH, N.C. — Tir Na Nog in downtown Raleigh is celebrating St. Patrick's Day a little early with "The Great Kilted Run."

The Irish Pub is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for largest kilt run. Currently, the record is 1,089 kilted runners. Tir Na Nog has around 1,100 runners registered for the March 2 run, but they could always use more!

The 200 meter run/walk will be held at 2 p.m. prior to Tir Na Nog's 8K.

To just enter the kilted run, it is $20 and you get a tech shirt and free beer (if you are 21 and older).
This patron at World of Beer in North Hills decided to wear a kilt for St. Patrick's Day on March 17, 2012.
If you want to register for the 8K, it is $35 online through Feb. 28 (registration closes at 10 a.m.) and then $40 the day of the run. The 8K registrations include the kilted run.

There will also be prizes. Ten runners will win a free pair of Brooks running shoes, one out of every 100 finishers will get a $40 voucher for Brooks apparel and one out of every 50 finishers receive a free pair of Drymax socks.

Stick around after the race for music and a party at the pub.
