ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A tip to a new effort to help authorities crack unsolved homicides has led to an arrest, Rocky Mount police said Thursday.

Cameron Fox has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Ronaldo Wesson. Wesson was assaulted in the 4200 block of Carroll Avenue on Oct. 25 and died the following day.

A tip to Team Cold Case via local blog Fighting Crime led to Fox's arrest, police said.

Team Cold Case was organized in July by citizens and media partners to publicize unsolved cases in hopes of generating leads. The effort's chairman, retired Gen. Arnold Gordon-Bray, said the mission is to assist law enforcement in the promotion of the rule of law, which requires public participation in securing our communities.

"My personal congratulations to this citizen for stepping up," Gordon-Bray said in a statement. "We hope Team Cold Case continues to be another step in the Rocky Mount Corridor's path to improved rule of law."
