Time to sign up for Y-Guides, Princesses programs
Meetings start this week for dads of first graders who want to sign up for these programs for dads and their daughters or sons. It's part of the YMCA of the Triangle.
Posted — UpdatedI'm very excited and, I'll admit, slightly jealous that my husband and our older daughter, now a first grader, will be joining a Y Princess tribe this fall.
Over the years, I've heard some pretty amazing stories from dads about their experiences with the program. So I'm excited my family will get to see what it's all about now.
If you have a first grader, tribes are being formed now. Registration meetings start this week. They are at 7 p.m., Thursday, at Rainbow Lanes in Clayton for Johnston County dads; 7 p.m. Sept. 6, at the McKimmon Center on N.C. State's campus for residents of Durham County, Cary, Morrisville, Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Willow Springs and New Hill; and 7 p.m., Sept. 7, at the Hilton North Raleigh for residents of Raleigh, Wake Forest, Wendell, Knightdale, Garner, Youngsville, Zebulon and Rolesville.
These meetings are for dads only. Some tribes already are formed. But most dads arrive without a tribe and meet other dads at these meetings to form one. Dads sit at the meeting based on having a boy or girl and by their zip code. If you don't attend the meeting or have someone to represent you, there is a good chance you will not get into a tribe, according to the website.
