Rain will move northeast overnight Saturday, hitting Rocky Mount last as it leaves behind some sprinkling throughout the area, WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell said..

Rather than dropping overnight, temperatures will rise to the mid-50s and 60s.

Winds moving out of the southwest will bring moisture and warm air from the Gulf Coast, which means thunderstorms are possible on Sunday.

Sunday afternoon, though, is expected to be sunny with temperatures in the 70s.

“Not all that uncommon to see a 70-degree day thrown in in December,” Campbell said.

Monday will be dry, and cooler air will arrive in the middle of next week. It will likely be too warm to see snow, though, Campbell said.
