CARTHAGE, N.C. — U.S. Highway 15-501 was closed Sunday in Moore County following a three-car crash.

Authorities said crews responded to the crash near a Speedway gas station in Carthage at about 2:30 p.m. and found two power poles broken in half with power lines across vehicles and the roadway.

Authorities said three people were trapped inside a vehicle for more than 30 minutes while Duke Energy crews worked to turn off power to the lines that were draped across the car.

One person was taken to First Health Moore Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

U.S. Highway 15-501 was expected to remain closed in both directions through Monday morning as crews work to clear the crash.

Drivers are advised to use Union Church Road and Priest Hill Road until the road reopens.

Authorities did not say what caused the crash or if charges would be filed.
