RALEIGH, N.C. — Three road construction projects by the NC Department of Transportation will be in effect this weekend.
Lane closures on northbound Capital Boulevard this weekend

The N.C. Department of Transportation's contractor for the Capital Boulevard bridges project plans to close the outside two northbound lanes of Capital Boulevard between Lane Street and Wade Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday.

This closure will allow the contractor to complete water line replacement work.

The closure is weather dependent and subject to change.

Drivers should allow extra time and pay extra attention while driving through the work zone.

I-40 at Aviation Parkway to close overnight again

N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to close both directions of Interstate 40 at Aviation Parkway for six more nights for bridge girder installation and construction.

Crews will close I-40 each night from 12 a.m. until 6 a.m. beginning Saturday night for the next five nights, pending weather. Follow NCDOT_Triangle on Twitter for the latest closure info.

The detour will be very short as law enforcement will direct drivers up and down the on and off ramps at the Aviation Parkway interchange (Exit 285).

Motorists need to slow down and pay extra attention as they travel through the work zone.

Northbound Durham Freeway to close Friday night

N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are set to close the northbound lanes of the Durham Freeway (N.C. 147) between Exit 8 (Ellis Road) and Exit 10 (Briggs Avenue) tonight.

Beginning at 10 p.m., northbound traffic will be detoured onto Ellis Road to Cornwallis Road to Alston Avenue (N.C. 55) to return to the Durham Freeway. The lanes are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday.

This closure will allow crews to complete pavement markings on the freeway and move portable concrete barriers to accommodate the rehabilitation of the bridge over CSX railroad.

This work is associated with the East End Connector project which is estimated to be completed June 2020.
