RALEIGH, N.C. — Three people were shot in two separate shootings in Raleigh neighborhoods overnight.

Around 2 a.m. Wednesday, a man and a woman were shot in a residential area at the intersection of Branch Street and S. East Street, near Garner Road and just south of downtown Raleigh.

They were taken to WakeMed with serious injuries but are expected to recover.

Two hours earlier, around midnight, another shooting was reported along Mill Village Road, off Creedmoor Road in Raleigh. One person was shot and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shootings were not connected.

WRAL News is working to learn the motive of both shootings and if the shooters knew the victims.
