RALEIGH, N.C. — Three men were injured in a shooting Monday night at a Raleigh shopping center.

On Tuesday, 60 bullet holes were counted at the property as one shop owner had to sweep shards of shattered glass from out of front of his business.

According to police, the shooting happened around 9 p.m. in a Food Lion parking lot near the intersection of Glascock Street and North Raleigh Boulevard.

Police said two men were injured, and one man sustained minor injuries. They were transported to a local hospital.

Shattered glass sits on a storefront outside a business at a Raleigh shopping Center following a shooting on Monday night.

A witness said they heard what sounded like fireworks, then the sounds got louder and hit a window of the Food Lion, sending people in the store running toward the back.

Multiple businesses in the area were also hit by gunfire, according to police.

Chuck Jaber owns the check cashing store next to lam's Garden and came to his business Tuesday to check on things, a reminder of the impact of the shooting to the business owners.

"Coming to a shopping center like this and seeing bullet holes in the wall, a lot of people are going to retreat," said Jaber. "This is our livelihood ... this is how we feed our families."

Shoppers like Bonita Christian were back out on Tuesday, strolling their carts past the shattered glass windows of their neighborhood Food Lion. Christian said she was "shaken" by what took place. Christian sometimes brings her 6-year-old grandson shopping with her.

A Raleigh business owner writes a message encouraging peace at a storefront.

One owner wrote a message on the boarded up section of window that read "The world is beautiful and we have family here. Please stop shooting!"

In 2018, a woman was stabbed at this same shopping center.

Officers were at the scene until 2 a.m. They are still searching for the gunman, and the investigation is ongoing.
