Three killed in head-on collision on NC 751 in Durham
Three people were killed during a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon that prompted authorities to shut down N.C. Highway 751 while they investigated the crash, authorities said.

A state Highway Patrol trooper at the scene said three people were in a 2011 Cadillac when it collided with a black Mercedes that was traveling northbound on N.C. 751. All of the victims inside the Cadillac were killed during the crash.
Highway Patrol Sgt. William Henning identified the passengers inside the Cadillac as: Stephen Taylor Martin, 68, of Burlington, who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash; Mary Debnam Martin, 69, of Emerald Isle; and Irene Taylor Martin, 89, of Burlington.
The driver of the Mercedes was identified as Edgar Cyril Brown, 68, of Stoneville.
Investigators have charged Brown with three counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and driving left of center, authorities said.
Brown was rushed to Duke University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Henning said in a written statement that Brown swerved to avoid hitting a northbound bicyclist, but he overcorrected, traveled left of center and struck the Cadillac head-on.
