OXFORD, N.C. — Three people were injured and transported to the hospital after the vehicle they were traveling in hydroplaned and crashed Thursday.

A trooper with the N.C. Highway Patrol confirmed to WRAL the accident happened on Grassy Creek Road in Oxford near the state line. Officials said a 15-year-old was driving when the vehicle hydroplaned, slid into a ditch, hit a mailbox and collided with a utility pole.

All three were transported to Duke Hospital and were in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. That includes one person who was ejected from the back seat of the vehicle.
