Three Camp Lejeune-based Marines killed in Afghanistan combat

Military officials say three North Carolina-based Marines have been killed in Afghanistan.

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — Military officials say three North Carolina-based Marines have been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense announced on Monday that 22-year-old Lance Cpl. Christopher Rangel of San Antonio, Texas, died May 6 and 19-year-old Lance Cpl. Joshua M. Davis of Perry, Iowa, died the next day

Authorities said 21-year-old Cpl. Kurt S. Shea, of Frederick, Md., died Monday, May 10.

All three were killed in Helmand province. Officials provided no additional details on how the men died.

Rangel and Davis were assigned to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.

Shea was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.
