Cary, N.C. — A transformer issue knocked out power for thousands of residents in Cary, Apex and Morrisville for about an hour Wednesday morning.
It wasn't clear what caused the problem, but at its peak the outage impacted about 10,000 Wake County residents, according to the Progress Energy website. Law enforcement officials in the area began receiving calls regarding the outage and malfunctioning traffic signals about 6:30 a.m.
By 7:50 a.m., most power had been restored to the area.
