Thousands to dash and dine at Krispy Kreme Challenge

Thousands of doughnut-loving (or hating) runners will take to the streets of Raleigh Saturday morning for the 12th annual Krispy Kreme Challenge, which raises money for the North Carolina Children's Hospital.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Thousands of doughnut-loving (or hating) runners took to the streets of downtown Raleigh Saturday morning for the 12th annual Krispy Kreme Challenge, which raises money for the North Carolina Children's Hospital.

The run begins at North Carolina State University's Bell Tower at 8:30 a.m., and runners will travel 2.5 miles to the Krispy Kreme location at the intersection of Peace and Person streets. After consuming their glazed delicacies, participants will run back to the Bell Tower.

Drivers should expect partial road closures on Hillsborough, St. Mary's, North West, Peace and Person streets, along with North Boylan Avenue, from 8 a.m. until about noon.
