Fallen tree limbs leave Duke Energy customers without power in Cary, Raleigh

The first outages were reported after 6:30 a.m. According to Duke Energy's outage map, around 3,500 customers in Wake County were without power at that time. Around 3,000 of those were in east Cary and west Raleigh in the Buck Jones Road and Crossroads Plaza area.

At 9 a.m., the power had been restored to many, but hundreds of outages remained.

Many outages were caused by falling tree limbs, according to officials. The power is estimated to be back for everyone around 11:45 a.m., causing an issue for people and students working and learning from home.
