— A spokesperson for Duke Energy said a power outage affected parts of downtown Durham for more than an hour on Saturday.

Equipment failure caused a fire at the downtown substation, knocking out power around 11:50 a.m.

Approximately 5,800 customers lost power, and police directed traffic around affected intersections throughout the downtown area.

Crews restored power shortly before 1:30 p.m.
