KENLY, N.C. — Word spread fast of a vaccine clinic with around 2,000 doses available at North Johnston High School.

The drive-thru clinic opened at 10 a.m., and by noon, there were only 300 doses left.

The clinic served Groups 1-4, and no appointment was required.

Drivers waited in their cars in a long line to get a shot in the arm.

The wait was anywhere from 1 to 3 hours. Crews arrived at 8 a. m. to set up.

It was a busy morning, but Lu Hickey, PIO for the Johnston County Health Department, said it’s good to see so much interest.

"It’s awesome to be able to see all the people who want it," said said. "We get a lot of questions during the week about when they can get their vaccine, when the next clinic is, things like that."

Previous vaccine clinics at North Johnston High School have reported low-wait times throughout March, and often report having many doses available.

Those getting the vaccine under 18 will need an adult with them. Patients will need another dose between 21 and 42 days after the first dose.
