'This entire journey has been a whirlwind': Brooke Simpson reflects on America's Got Talent run
Brooke Simpson finished fourth in the season finale of America's Got Talent.
joining us now is Brooke Simpson fresh off her fourth place finish with America's Got Talent, Brooke congratulations on finishing in the top five, a remarkable achievement. What have you learned about yourself through this whole journey first of all, thank you so much for having me and for your kind words throughout this entire process. But this entire journey has just been a whirlwind. It has been so surreal, but more than anything, I've just been so grateful not only for the exposure for my own self and my artistry, but for the fact that I've been able to shine a light on indigenous people everywhere and you're certainly shining bright. That's for sure. What's next for you? Are you working on an album actually? Yes, I am. I am, I'm already working on an album and uh figuring out which song is going to be the first single. So you should be expecting new music soon. Um as well as there are so many other projects that I've been working on, such as voice over work for an animated series. Um and of course broadway down the road, I'm just, I'm so excited for all of the things that I have in store for you guys. Have you had some time to write some new songs or where do you see your inspiration? Oh, absolutely. You know, um it was actually really hard last year during quarantine to, right, because a lot of times what inspires you to write new music is new experiences, but being stuck at home. Um you know, there's only so much you can walk right about about the four walls of your own house, but definitely going through this process and as beautiful but also challenging as it was, I've gotten so much inspiration um, and I'm so ready to get back in the studio and start writing even more Brooke, what would you say to the young people who have a dream in their heart and want to chase that dream? I would say do it like not to sound like Nike, but do it. Um, don't let anything stop you from chasing your dreams no matter if it is, your skin color, your background, your age, nothing should ever stop you chase it fearlessly. Um, and authentically because we already have everyone else, we need you. That's what I was saying and you were proud to represent north Carolina, especially Halifax county and then also you're a proud member of the Halawa pony tribe, Talk about what it means to you to be able to represent indigenous people. Absolutely. It means everything to me. I mean of course I'm chasing a dream because I've always wanted to sing as a little girl, but I'm not just doing it for the little girl that had a dream and me, it's for the other indigenous little girls and boys out there who may not see someone that looks like them every day on tv to know like wow, that's doable for me too. So by me chasing my dreams on a public platform, which as scary as that is, um, it's bigger than myself. It's about all of us and it's about letting the next generation know that yes, you can, there's nothing that is impossible. We're still here and we're still loud and proud and broke. A lot of fans want to know. When will you be back in North Carolina? Hopefully very soon. Um, and actually I'll have an announcement to make very soon. So make sure that you have your ears and eyes ready on all of my social media because north Carolina, I definitely want to come home very soon to celebrate with you Brooke. I loved how you said in earlier interviews that you can't just sing a song that you want to create a moment. Well, we're looking for you to creating many more memorable moments has been so fun to watch you on America's Got Talent and we can't wait to see what is next for you. Best of luck to you Brooke and we certainly hope you stay in touch. Thank you so much and thank you for all of your support Wrl is family to me and um, I love you very much. Thank you
