Third man charged with murder in death of 28-year-old Fayetteville woman

A third person has been arrested in connection with the death of a 28-year-old Fayetteville woman last month.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A third person has been arrested in connection with the death of a 28-year-old Fayetteville woman last month.

Authorities said Nekeshia D. Washington was approached at her home in the 1600 block of Slater Avenue on July 16 and shot by a suspect who fled the area.

Fayetteville police said an anonymous tip Wednsday led to the arrest of Antonio Johnson, 18, of the 900 block of Gills Street, in connection with the shooting.

Johnson was charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.

Akeen D. Hair, 22, of the 2300 block of Cattail Circle, and Akeem McIver, 23, were previously with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the incident.
