Third man charged with murder after death of Seven Springs teen

A third man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old earlier this month in Seven Springs.

SEVEN SPRINGS, N.C. — A third man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old earlier this month in Seven Springs.

Authorities found Carl Patrick Henry Leroy Jr. with a gunshot wound at a home at 332 Sanderson Road at about 11 p.m. on Aug. 11.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said Leroy, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had been struck by a bullet that entered the home from the outside.

On Tuesday, Terrence Corainte Smith, 23, of LaGrange, was charged with murder, discharge of a weapon into occupied property resulting in serious bodily injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony conspiracy.

Last week, two other men, Videll Alexander Wright, 19, of 104 Sedgefield Drive in Goldsboro, and Devon Alexander McCollum, 24, of 210 West Greene Street in Snow Hill, were both charged with murder, felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony discharging a weapon into occupied property and felony conspiracy.

Wright faces additional charges for traffic and controlled substance violations and McCollum is facing additional charges of felony possession of cocaine and felony maintaining a dwelling for cocaine.

The men were being held Wednesday at the Wayne County Detention Center.
