A third man has been arrested in connection to a shooting that took place in a packed shopping center on Black Friday.

Lamonttae Taylor, 20, of Durham, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Three people were shot at The Streets at Southpoint shopping center on Nov. 26, including a 10-year-old, who was hurt from a bullet ricochet.

Police initially said the shooting occurred on the second floor of the mall and involved two groups of people who knew each other. Witnesses later said the shooting began as a fight in Macy's between two groups of people.

But after days of investigation that included reviewing footage from several security cameras and interviewing dozens of people, police determined that robbery wasn't a random incident, nor was it gang-related.

Police said a man selling jewelry outside a store on the mall's second floor was approached by at least two men who tried to rob him. At least one of the robbers had a gun, police said. Both police and Southpoint representatives said the jewelry vendor wasn't affiliated with the mall in any way.

Two people were charged in December in connection with the shooting. Romeo Pride, 26, of Durham, who was shot and seriously injured, was arrested after being released from the hospital.

Jaquaay Walton, 31, and Romeo Pride, 26, were charged in the Black Friday shooting at Southpoint on Nov. 26, 2021.

Jaquaay Walton, 31, of Virginia, who was charged with carrying a concealed gun, turned himself in and was released on bond. Police said last month that Walton was not one of the two men who approached the jewelry seller, but did not further clarify his involvement in the incident.

Officers who arrested Taylor also charged him with with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Taylor was released from the Durham County Jail on Wednesday after posting a $10,000 bond.
