DURHAM, N.C. — Police believe several people tore the cover off an ATM in Durham on Thursday morning and took off on foot.

Crime scene tape surrounded a Coastal Credit Union bank at the intersection of Page Road and Slater Road. A pickup truck appeared to have a chain connected to the front cover of the ATM in the parking lot. One drive-thru ATM machine was clearly damaged with debris on the ground.

The damaged ATM had the front cover ripped off, still linked to the chain. Durham police said it's not clear if any cash was taken.

Police are continuing to investigate.
