Thieves steal ATM from RTP bank

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is asking for the public’s help in identify the suspect involved in the theft of an ATM at the RTP Federal Credit Union, 21 Union Park Drive in the Research Triangle Park, around 4 a.m. Friday.

MORRISVILLE, N.C. — The Federal Bureau of Investigation is asking for the public’s help in identify the suspect involved in the theft of an ATM at the RTP Federal Credit Union, 21 Park Drive in the Research Triangle Park, around 4 a.m. Friday.

Investigators said the suspects stole a forklift from a nearby construction site and used it to steal the entire machine.

The Federal Credit Union has offered a $5,000 reward for information that solves the theft, Branch Operations Manager Robert Ruppenkamp said.

Anyone with information about the theft or the suspects involved should call the Durham County Sheriff's Office at 919-560-0854 or the FBI at 919-380-4500.
