Posted — UpdatedConsumer Reports on Friday released a list of the most exceptional new cars on the road today.
All cars scored high marks in Consumer Reports’ tests and surveys, and each comes standard with lifesaving safety features.
The annual Top Picks list is based on data from more than 50 tests conducted on 250 cars at Consumer Reports’ Auto Test Center and other factors such as predicted reliability, owner satisfaction and safety equipment.
Testers drive each car for thousands of miles to evaluate them and experience them the way buyers would.
To make the list, the vehicles must come standard with forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
Toyota had a very good year — its Corolla, Prius and Camry all made the list.
The Subaru Forester and Outback were also on the list along with the Mazda CX-30, the Lexus RX, the Honda Ridgeline and the Kia Telluride.
The only American brand on the list this year was the Tesla Model 3.
A new evaluation in 2021 indicates which cars are a "green choice." The designation highlights the top 20 percent of vehicles on the market with the cleanest emissions.
The cars that made Consumer Reports' list under this designation include the Prius, Camry and Tesla.
