The Oxford, Raleigh Brewing end Beer Month with a bang
The Grand Finale, a collaboration between Raleigh Brewing Company and The Oxford, is a five-course dinner followed by a tasting of 10 local beers.
Posted — UpdatedThe Grand Finale is tonight with dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. Dinner features fresh and local ingredients, a North Carolina favorite, Cheerwine, and Raleigh Brewing Company beers.
The five-course menu features dishes like Cherrywood Smoked Scottish Salmon paired with Blatherskite Scottish Ale and Fried Oysters paired with House of Clay IPA. There is also a pre-dinner cocktail hour of Buffalo Sliders and a one-time cask from the brewery – their Moravian Rhapsody Pilsner aged for one month with jalapenos.
For the dessert course, guests will enjoy Toffee Genoise paired with a special beer created specifically for this event. The Pedestrian Mall Lager, brewed with fennel and pear, clocks in at 6.3 percent ABV and comes from the same yeast strain as their popular Hell Yes Ma'am Belgian Golden.
The fennel gives the beer an herbal licorice flavor while the earthy pear flavors blend well with the aromatic yeast. The brewers say the beer "starts with light sweetness, and finishes crisp and dry with a lingering anise flavor."
After dinner, the tasting portion of the evening will begin at 9:30 p.m. Guests will be able to sample 10 of the area's best beers. To finish out the night, pick your favorite, enjoy another pint and take the glass home.
Participating breweries include Raleigh Brewing, Big Boss and Lonerider.
If you can't attend tonight's event, you can check out Raleigh Brewing Company events next month. They have a full calendar, with several dinners, tap takeovers and pint nights each month, as well as homebrew classes and Sunday yoga.
