Based on the classic definition of a recession, the United States is currently experiencing one. How is it impacting your retirement? 

the Fed has recently announced a 0.75 point rate height, which is supposed to help us curb inflation. Consumer advocate thomas lips come here alongside financial and insurance planner Greg barry in. We're going to try to tackle this topic now recently and I have my notes here, uh Mike Wilson, who is the U. S. Equity strategist and Chief investment Officer said on CNBC's fast money that all the jumps we're seeing in the market this week and last week may be a trap and and should be something that we should be eyeing with a little bit more hesitancy. I wanted to get your opinion because this is something that you deal with every day. What are your thoughts on all this? It's like he's saying we're not out of the weeds and and we're not out of the weeds. You can't ignore the fact that the inflation rates so high that the debt is so high and what they're looking at also is, you know, there's there's very low unemployment, There's jobs for everybody out there. So that's it's interesting. It's really, it's kind of like it's kind of like in the twilight zone, we've never ever really been there, you know, but a lot of people don't realize is when these interest rates hike up, a lot of a lot of the folks out there, a lot of you folks out there that have your 401k. S out there of course, you know the equities are doing okay right now, they're holding their own. But the older folks whose advisors put them into the bond market okay bond markets directly affected by the interest rates. And so these poor folks that are getting ready to retire, They're getting destroyed by the bonds that they bought for safety. That's not true safety well. And we were talking about before we turned on the cameras here news that's going down right now about how we're not wanting to call this what it is. We're trying to redefine recession. And so if you don't mind, just for our listeners who may not know what is the classic definition of recession a recession is when you have negative GDP growth, two quarters in a row. Look it up, it's in the dictionary Wikipedia anywhere you want to go to and that's what a recession is. You can call anything you want and this is what we've just wrapped up is that second quarter, isn't it? You can call it cherries and lollipops. You know, for all I care a recession is a recession. This recession is a recession. It's just a weird one. So so let's talk about that then if we're not wanting to call it a recession, but it is what it is something that we like to focus on obviously is retirement planning. And so for those people who may have wanted to retire, 2022 was your year, you wanted this summer to be your last summer of work or maybe this fall. Do you have any advice for someone who may be in that situation right now? Seek true security, seek true safety, seek options that you're never ever gonna lose money on period that you're gonna be able to take advantage of the market when it goes up and you're not gonna lose money when it goes down. That is the only true safety that you have in your 401 case. Yeah, I couldn't agree more. Once again, we're here with Greg Berry and he's with capital Financial. I'm meteorologist, Amy Wilma in the WRL severe weather center, we had a dry warm day today, but a cold front is off to the west of us and it arrives tomorrow and brings the potential for some scattered showers and some thunderstorms. It's a pretty potent system today with a level three out of five risk for part of the Midwest. But the severe weather will be moving eastward as this cold front moves eastward as well. And we'll have the risk for severe storms tomorrow. Although the storm energy will not be as high tomorrow as it is today. There's a lot of storm energy west of us today and that's why they have that higher risk for severe storms. But as this system moves closer to North Carolina, it does weaken. We could still have some isolated severe storms but we have weak to moderate energy. We don't have the strong energy that they have west of us today. So it's a level one risk for most of us Friday. This is in the afternoon and evening. So isolated severe storms possible. The biggest threat will be some damaging winds and a potential for some hail as Well, the first half of the day is dry, so no rain worries for the morning commute. But by the time we get to the afternoon and evening, that's when we'll have scattered showers and storms and any of the storms that do form could become severe. And our highest rain chances are right during the evening commute. So about a 40% chance for rain tomorrow as we move ahead to Saturday, only a slim chance for a shower, a 20% chance for rain. But then a decent chance for rain on Sunday, we don't expect storms, but mainly the second half of our Sunday will have some scattered showers and it will be a cooler day. Here's a look at the rain over the weekend again, just a slim chance for rain on Saturday. Otherwise partly to mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low to mid seventies. Sunday morning looks mainly dry with a little bit of rain over some of our southern counties. But then as we head toward the afternoon, a better chance for rain, especially south and east of the triangle. And then during the evening is when some of that rain lifts to the north and includes a good part of the viewing area on Sunday. So the second half of the day certainly looks like the wettest part of the day, still warm Friday with a high of 84. And then we're down into the mid seventies Saturday, high temperatures will be in the low to mid sixties for Sunday and Monday with some chilly mornings, Monday morning and Tuesday morning. Down into the forties, we warm back up next week though. 74 on Tuesday, 78 Wednesday and near 70 for a high temperature on Thursday.
