<b>CNN</b> — While you were squinting to make out Sunday night's incredibly dark episode of "Game of Thrones," you might have thought you were seeing things when a White Walker looked kind of like country star Chris Stapleton.

Well folks, you were right. It really was Stapleton.

As it turns out, the country music star is a fan of the show and landed a guest spot, along with his bassist J.T. Cure and his tour manager.

Stapleton took to Instagram following the episode to share a behind the scenes picture from the Ireland set and fans immediately went wild.

Stapleton's wife happened to capture the exact moment of his "Game of Thrones" debut during the epic battle.

Although the moment was fleeting and just a close up of his eyes opening -- Stapleton said it was worth it.

"I was like, you know, I would gladly fly to wherever in the world just to be a small part and get to watch that show going down," Stapleton told "Rolling Stone." "They were gracious enough to let me come participate that way."
