Some local companies have made a Better Business Bureau list no company wants to be on.

In doing due diligence before hiring a company, the Better Business Bureau of Eastern North Carolina is usually one stop for research.

Ten businesses on the annual list released Tuesday account for 37 percent of the Bureau’s unanswered or unsolved complaints, meaning business owners didn’t take time to respond to customers who had a problem.

The Better Business Bureau said Love and War Clothing, an online boutique that caters to military customers, online fashion boutique eRummagers and Backyard Produce of Cary are the three companies with the most complaints. Although all three companies are now out of business, the organization says they are still receiving complaints about them.

Three other companies that many in the Triangle are familiar with also made the list because of service or billing issues.

Trash company Waste Industries, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and The News and Observer, which garnered complaints from people who either canceled their subscriptions or let it expire only to continue receiving papers and bills, all made the list.
