RALEIGH, N.C. — As is typical in North Carolina, the first day of fall will feel more like summer.

Monday will feature the warmest weather we've had in days, according to WRAL meteorologist Peta Sheerwood.

Highs across central North Carolina will be in the upper 80s, with a high in the low 90s likely in Raleigh. It will also be humid.

Highs are expected to stay in the mid 80s throughout the work week. Tuesday and Wednesday will be the mildest days of the week before temperatures return to the 90s by Thursday. The weekend will alsp be hot as the 90s stick around.

"It's not going to feel like fall," Sherwood said, adding that it will be a while before mild fall temperatures settle in again.

The state experienced a cool streak last week, with highs in the 70s for multiple days. On Friday, temperatures were in the low 50s throughout most of central North Carolina, with some places seeing the high 40s.
7-Day Forecast

Central North Carolina is in need of rain, Sheerwood said, but it appears that the week will be mostly dry.

On average, September is the second wettest month of the year, based on readings at RDU. According to WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell, nearly 8 inches of rain fell last September. This month, just over an inch of rain has fallen.
