Morrisville, N.C. — The high temperature at Raleigh-Durham International Airport reached a record for Oct. 19 on Wednesday, hitting 88 degrees, a single degree warmer than the old record.
The unseasonable warmth sticks around for one more day, before a cold front blows through around mid-day on Friday, WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel said.
"We do expect plenty of clouds throughout the day with some spotty light rain behind the front for the afternoon and into the early evening hours. Our high will probably occur around lunchtime and temperatures should fall into the afternoon," Fishel said.
The wind could be howling for Friday night football games with gusts of up to 30 mph and a forecast low of 43 degrees.
