Teenager charged after 2-year-old shot in the leg

— Goldsboro police said a 2-year-old was rushed to the hospital after being shot in the leg Friday evening.

Officers responded to the 1900 block of Day Circle after an alert of multiple shots fired. A vehicle was spotted driving at a high rate of speed to Wayne UNC Healthcare. The driver took the child inside for treatment.

The child was then transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Police said the victim is in stable condition and expected to be released soon.

Police have charged a 17-year-old with four counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of discharge a weapon into occupied property w/ serious injury.

He was taken to Pitt Regional Juvenile Center on Saturday.

Police said they are continuing to investigate and additional arrests are anticipated.
