CAMERON, N.C. — Charges are pending Thursday against a teenager after threats of gun violence were made against Union Pines High School.

The most recent threats surfaced at Union Pines High School, where Moore County Schools posted information about three threats on their Facebook page Wednesday night.

School officials said a threat on Tuesday was not credible.

Authorities identified a student in connection with a second threat made Wednesday, and the school system is taking appropriate action.

Investigators worked through the night to determine the origin of a third threat before using a search warrant to search an Aberdeen home early Thursday morning. According to the Moore County Sheriff's Office, charges are pending against a teenager.

A fourth threat that mentioned Southern Middle School in Aberdeen was determined not credible

Students will see heightened law enforcement presence at both schools on Thursday.

Threats against schools, especially made on social media, are not uncommon. In May, the Wake County Sheriff's Office was investigating at least seven threats made against schools in the district.
More recently, in November, Harnett Central High School was evacuated after an email sent to parents said that there was a bomb threat made and that students were at the football stadium. In Lee County, students and staff were locked down around 12:30 p.m. after an anonymous threat was called in to the school.
