An Angier teen who was injured in a September car crash died Friday as a result of her injuries.

Alexis B. Mcleod, 19, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after she was pulled from a vehicle that crashed into a Fuquay-Varina pond on Sept. 5.

Authorities said Mcleod apparently drove off the side of the road, overcorrected and lost control. Three witnesses jumped into the pond to rescue her, but couldn’t get into the vehicle.

Authorities said Mcleod’s 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix was flipped onto its roof when they arrived, and it had to be turned over to get her out.

According to an obituary, Mcleod is survived by her mother, father and brother as well as many extended family members.

A funeral for Mcleod will be held Tuesday at the Thomas Funeral Home.
