Raleigh, N.C. — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened off Capital Boulevard in north Raleigh Wednesday afternoon.
Officers were called to the 3800 block of Rolling Green Court around 4:45 p.m., where they discovered a 16-year-old male victim outside the Lexington on the Green apartment complex.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was being withheld per a request from the family, police said.
Neighbors said they heard multiple gunshots followed by police sirens.
"I first came outside, I heard there was a shooting. I heard the gunshots," said Keenan Whittenburg, who lives at the apartment complex. "I don't know exactly what happened, but I know it was over by the mailboxes."
Police said Thursday that a silver or gray mini-van was seen driving through the apartment complex around 4:45.
Some witnesses told investigators that the vehicle was cutting people off and nearly causing crashes near the intersection of Rolling Green Court and New Hope Road.
