FRANKLINTON, N.C. — One teen was killed and another was injured in a crash on Hodges Road near Franklinton early Saturday. Troopers say alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The driver, Perry Jackson Frazier, 18, of Louisburg, died at the scene. A 19-year-old male passenger, whose name was not released, was flown by helicopter to WakeMed with serious injuries.

The crash happened shortly before 1:45 a.m.

Troopers say Frazier, a 2015 Franklinton High School graduate, was driving a pickup truck south on Hodges Road at a high rate of speed and ran off the road to the left and struck a tree. He was not wearing a seat belt. It's unclear if his passenger was buckled in.

No other information was released.

Patrick Glace, a spokesman for Franklin County Schools, said Franklinton High was opened to students Saturday to give them a place to gather and console one another.
