LOUISVILLE, KY. — Two students were shot Wednesday morning at a school bus stop, a local NBC affiliate reports.

Investigators at the scene said a high school student died at a hospital following the shooting. The conditions of the other students were not known.

The bus was headed for Eastern High School, police said.

A suspect was not identified, but authorities asked parents in the area to ask their children if they saw anything. They also asked homeowners to check their home security cameras.

"We need all the help we can get," officials at the scene said.

"It is horrifying and devastating and we are going to throw all our resources into finding out who did this," an investigator said. "I can tell you that while I was on the way here listening to it on the radio my kids were waiting at their bus stop ... and I just can't imagine how the parents of the kids at this bus stop feel."
