CARY, N.C. — An Apex teen who was injured early Thursday in a one-car wreck in Cary has died, officials said Friday.

Ja'Lyn Brean Hunt, 17, was thrown from a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero that flipped near the intersection of S.E. Maynard Road and Tanglewood Drive at about 4 a.m. Thursday, police said. He died at WakeMed.

Police said the Montero was stolen.

The driver, Daryl Torres, 19, of Village Greenway in Cary, fled the scene but was arrested Thursday afternoon. He was charged with hit-and-run, possession of a stolen vehicle and failure to appear in court stemming from a pending assault charge in Durham.
