Teen charged with murder in Vance County shooting

Vance County investigators said on Sunday at approximately 10 a.m., deputies responded to a shooting on the 180 block of Vincent Hoyle Road in Henderson.

HENDERSON, N.C. — A teenager was taken into custody and charged with murder after a man was shot and killed on Sunday in Vance County.

Vance County investigators said on Sunday at approximately 10 a.m., deputies responded to a shooting on the 180 block of Vincent Hoyle Road in Henderson.

Deputies found that Saivion Best had been shot several times. Best was taken to Maria Parham Hospital where he died a short time later.

The Vance County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations arrived on scene and started to investigate. The agencies identified a 17-year-old as the suspect.

The teen, who was was not named in a release from the sheriff's office, was taken into custody on Monday and charged with first-degree murder. The teen is being held in secure custody.
