Teen charged with crash that killed two friends

LUMBERTON, N.C. — State troopers charged Ricky Dwayne Williams, 16, in a crash that killed two of his friends. Williams lost control of his SUV Dec. 6 and landed in the Lumbee River outside Lumberton.

He escaped from the car, but two others did not. Williams faces two counts of misdemeanor death by vehicle.

Corey Locklear and Matthew Britt II, both 16, drowned when the SUV ran off the road, overturned, hit a tree and plunged into the river, landing on its roof.

Williams was treated for minor injuries at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
