DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham teen was arrested Tuesday in connection with a fatal shooting last fall at a local apartment complex, police said.

Mark Travers, 19, of Infinity Road, was charged with murder in the Oct. 21 slaying of Alejandro Silva Abraham at The Oaks at Northgate complex, in the 2000 block of Broad Street.

Abraham, 30, of 2112 Broad St. in Durham, was shot several times and was found in a breezeway at the apartment complex, police said. Investigators said they believe robbery was the motive for the shooting.

Travers also was charged with two counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon for another incident at the complex, police said.

Officers investigating Abraham's death learned another resident was held up at gunpoint about five minutes before the shooting. The victim told police that the gunman patted him down but didn't take anything before running off.

A month ago, Travers was charged in connection with a string of burglaries after a woman came home and surprised three men who had broken into her home. The woman called 911 as the men drive off and gave authorities a description of their car and the license plate number.
