Teen charged after three injured in August shooting in Durham

The incident happened in the area of Umstead and Dawkins Street around 5:29 p.m.

A teenager has been charged in connection to an August triple shooting in Durham.

The 17-year-old was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, shooting into an occupied vehicle, minor in possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm within city limits.

Durham police were called Dawkins Street around 5 p.m. for a shooting on Aug. 31.

When they arrived, they found two men and a woman who had been shot.

All three were taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Durham police said the victims told officers they were in a car near the intersection of Umstead and Dawkins streets when a man approached the car, fired several shots and then ran away.

The teen was placed in a secure juvenile facility.
