Teen arrested in Durham parking lot shooting
Durham police have arrested a teen in the shooting of a 17-year-old girl in the parking lot behind the Main Street Apartments last week, spokeswoman Kammie Michael said Monday.
Posted — UpdatedJavonte Christopher Champelle, 16, of Commerce Street, was charged Saturday with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony conspiracy, going armed to the terror of the public and discharging a firearm within city limits.
He was being held Monday in the Durham County jail under a $750,000 bond.
The victim's name has not been released, but police said she was shot in the thigh with a small-caliber weapon at 621 E. Main St. on Aug. 15.
