CARY, N.C. — A high-speed chase on I-40 early Thursday morning ended with a teen driver crashing and overturning the car on the Harrison Avenue on-ramp to I-40 West.

Troopers said they originally tried to pull over 17-year-old Jacarri Lassiter for speeding 93mph in a 65mph zone, but the teen driver took off. This led to a short high-speed chase down I-40 before the teen lost control of the car, running up an embankment on a ramp before flipping the car.

The driver was checked out on the scene, then arrested and put into a patrol car. A passenger, who is not facing charges according to officials, went to the hospital to be checked out.

The driver was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Officials said he's facing charges for speeding and felony flee to elude.

Officials said they expect to file more charges, as they believe the car was stolen.
