— Jeanne Beasley, a teacher at Powatan Elementary School in Clayton, has always wanted to be an educator.

"I used to try to teach my younger brother all the things I had learned in school that day and there was never just anything else that I wanted to do," Beasley said. "It's kind of where my heart has always been.

Beasley has worked with kindergartners for more than two decades. But with the pandemic, she said teaching the new students what school is virtually can be tough.

"Sometimes I feel like they look at me as a YouTube video and they're not really quite sure what to do with that," she said.

But, Beasley isn't loosing hope.

"They are definitely coming along and we're having a good time together," Beasley said.

It's because of Beasley's dedication to molding young minds that we select her as our Teacher of the Week.
