OXFORD, N.C. — Imagine going from the courtroom to the classroom. That’s the journey one Granville county attorney made once she decided to become a 7th grade teacher.

"I was actually a practicing attorney. What I observed in specifically the criminal justice system, it made me feel like I was on the back end of trying to fix what I felt like I had more of an opportunity to have a positive impact as a teacher," Carol Foxx, Northern Granville Middle School said.

She started practicing law in 2011 and became Language Arts teacher in 2018.

Since joining Teach for America, Foxx has made that difference and that’s why we honor her as our teacher of the week.

"You can really see the impact once they leave and then they come back and you can see their growth," Foxx said.
