Target fresh grocery pickup and drive-up coming soon

Target plans to offer fresh and frozen grocery items for Order Pickup and Drive Up at more than 1500 stores nationwide.

Target plans to offer fresh and frozen grocery items for Order Pickup and Drive Up at more than 1500 stores nationwide.

At this time, most stores only allow order pickup or drive-up orders for non-perishable products.

The expanded service will first be available in Midwest stores and then Target plans to roll it out to more than 1,500 stores "in time for the holidays," according to the company announcement.

“The speed and convenience of our fulfillment options are unmatched across the country, and they’ve become even more critical for our guests searching for easy and safe ways to shop during the pandemic. By adding fresh grocery to the pickup services our guests already love, we’re giving them even more reasons to shop at Target,” says John Mulligan, Target’s chief operating officer. “During a time when even more people are looking for different ways to get the items they need, we’ll continue to invest in making Target the easiest and safest place to shop.”

The company statement indicates that the fresh and frozen items include "750 items across produce, dairy, bakery, meat and frozen products. Now, guests can get the grocery items they need—like milk, bread, eggs and ice cream—along with the staples they’ve already been getting through Drive Up and Order Pickup. And those items are in addition to the more than 250,000 items available for pickup across categories like home, apparel, essentials and more. As always, orders are ready within a few hours. And for Drive Up, the experience is completely contactless as we bring the order to your car in less than two minutes."

One of the highlights of Target Order Pickup and Drive Up is that they are both free, with no membership or minimum order required. For RedCard holders and Target Circle members, your discounts and benefits apply to Drive Up and Order Pickup.

The fresh and frozen products are not yet available for Order Pick-up or Drive-Up in Triangle area Target stores, but they will be soon.
