Tarantino's extended 'The Hateful Eight' isn't just on Netflix. It's a miniseries

Quentin Tarantino fans knew they'd be in for a treat this month, but they weren't expecting this.

Netflix told fans back in March it would stream the extended version of the director's "The Hateful Eight" in April.

But when viewers went searching for the movie on the online streaming platform, they came across quite a surprise: the movie was uploaded as a four-part miniseries. The movie's theatrical edition also continues to stream on Netflix.

Running approximately 50 minutes long each, the episodes are titled "Last Stage to Red Rock," "Minnie's Haberdashery," "Domergue's Got A Secret" and "The Last Chapter." Tarantino's theatrical version ran 167 minutes, while the extended cut adds up to 213 minutes.

"The Hateful Eight," starring Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh, follows the story of two bounty hunters and an outlaw in the middle of a Wyoming winter who find shelter in a cabin filled with corrupt characters.

The western thriller opened in theaters in 2015 and won the Oscar for best original music score, best cinematography and best supporting actress.
